It seems like every where i look lately people are asking what type of witness they are to those around them. I see people who are hurting for those they don't know. I, myself, hurt for those i don't know. I wonder if I am enough of a witness to those around me. I wonder if I passed up the perfect opportunity during conversation to help someone in some way to find Jesus. To simply find the peace in their life that He can bring. I wonder if, when i go to Heaven, God is going to be waiting to tell me that I didnt do enough. I ignored the opportunities presented to me. So this past Sunday at church Pastor Francis continued his series on Transforming or Is the Old Way Better? We have already talked about how, when we come to know God, we are supposed to change. We don't just accept his gift of salvation and say "Hey, thanks. Nice to meet you!" and go on with life as usual. We are expected to change in some way. When we sin, God forgives us....but we are supposed to change as a result. We expect our kids to say they are sorry and not to do the offense again. That's what God expects of his children also. This week we are talking about how we are a witness for God. When Jesus was praying, he wasnt praying for the world as a whole. He prayed for us....me and you. He prayed for us to seek him. He prayed that we would be continually changing and transforming to his likeness. And because of that we would be His witness to the world. He doesn't expect us to know everything. He knows we are learning. We learn daily in some way. But we can turn to him for the right things to say....the right way to behave. It's better to say something than to say nothing after all. If you only know one thing to share then share it! Share it over and over! I was told a story of a football player.....one Saturday this football player had someone knock on his door and witness to him....he was saved right there. The next day he went to the stadium to play and couldn't wait to share what he knew with his teammates. He walked in to the locker room and told them all he knew....John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him, shall not parrish but have everlasting life." The guys starting asking him all kinds of questions and he continually repeated the only verse he knew. He didn't know much but he knew that one verse and it made all the difference in his life. He shared it over and over. Another dear friend told me a story this week. She was in a grocery store. This lady behind her seemed to be in a bad mood, so she told her she could go ahead of her. The lady asked her why she was so happy and my friend simply replied "because i know God" She says the ladies whole demeaner changed. She didn't have to say much, but she hit home with someone who needed it. I want you all to think about these things as you go off to work this week. Whether you work in an office or at home....wherever you are....your work place is your mission field. Those are the people who see you daily. They see the way you do your job and your attitude. How you work says so much. A positive attitude even while cleaning toilets is a tremendous witness to others. No matter what job you do, your job is sacred to God because that's where you work for Him also. Have a great day!!! I'll talk to you more soon!
